World Vision Sunday

Happy Thanksgiving! Every Thanksgiving we celebrate our partnership with World Vision in Lomas, Bolivia. Jason Moffat from World Vision Canada is also joining us this weekend. Thank you all for being here with us today!

Thanksgiving Special Offering

Sunday, October 13

Every Thanksgiving, we take time to remember our long-term partnership with Bolivia and World Vision. This year, two special guests are visiting from Bolivia! Any special offering given in the Thanksgiving envelope (green) will be dedicated to our commitment towards the WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) program in Lomas, Bolivia.

UPDATE: Dali Family

This year, we heard a calling to support the Dali Family – a refugee family in need – in finding refuge and a home in Canada. City of Refugee has agreed to be our SAHs (Sponsorship Agreement Holder) for the refugee sponsorship process. Please continue to pray for the government applications and the family's process in preparing for their interview with the Canadian Embassy on October 3. The Dali family may arrive as soon as Spring 2020. We invite our congregation to be a part of helping to welcome the soon-to-be-newcomer family by volunteering with tasks as lead by the settlement team.

CEM Volunteers

With the growing number of children in the Sunday worship at 10:30 AM, we are in need of 3 volunteers each week to serve with Rev. Khang, worship with the children and facilitate small group discussion. A sign-up sheet is on the back table. Please speak with Kathy Kim (kathykim98@yahoo.com) for more info.

Home Group

Home Groups is a great way to move into a community of faith. Following Jesus is always good, always worth it, but we all know it’s hard to do alone. We all need people to encourage us along in faith and people need you too! Home groups are regular gatherings of 6-12 people in locations around the city for 3 months, followed by a month break. Please contact Hamin Lee or Pastor Joe for more info.

Post Summer Missions

Though we may not be present on the mission field anymore, our prayers are powerful in seeing God's kingdom come. Let's continue to pray for the local leaders, missionaries and communities of Ahousaht First Nations Reserve (BC), Haiti, Flemingdon Park (Toronto), Honduras, Nicaragua, White Dog First Nations Reserve (ON).

Holy Spirit Church

We continue to pray for HSC as they move to a new location closer to their members. They ask prayer for wisdom as they start in a new place. Pray also for the new refugee families who have arrived this past year and the church members who walk with them as they settle into their new home.

Lomas, Bolivia

We pray for the leaders and members of Lomas who are working hard to see their community grow in sustainability. We pray for the health and protection of the children, for youth to have vision and hope, for parents who work hard to support their families, for the World Vision staff who serve in Christ's love.

Dali Family

Praise Be to God! The Dali Family has been booked for an interview at the Canadian embassy in Lebanon on October 3. Please continue to pray for the government applications and the family's preparation. We can expect the family as soon as 6 months from now! We continue to ask our congregation to prayerfully consider joining us in welcoming the family to the #TrueNorth.

VCC Transitions

As Reverend Sukhyon Peter Han retires after 30 years of ministry at VCC, the church has called the Reverend Dr. Young Min Koh as the senior minister. Please continue to pray through the transition process for God's will and grace to be revealed and for all needed preparations to be completed in His wisdom.
